Our lips are painted,
With strokes of a brush,
Our cheeks are dashed,
With star colored blush

Our eye shadow is splattered,
With water color gold,
Our lashes are written,
With poetry that's bold

Our nails are stained,
With photos of each kind,
Our concealer are the,
Messages no one can find,

Our mascara is drawn,
With digital lines,
Our jewelry is made,
From glitter in the mines

Our powder is sprayed,
With the heart of the street,
Our highlights are shimmered,
From fan made heat

Our gloss is mixed,
With glass of all types,
Our hair is dyed,
With rainbow stripes

Wait for me,
Because I don't ever want too feel,
Out of place ever again
Lipstick- Traditional Art
Blush- Fractal Art
Eye Shadow- Painting
Fake Lashes/Eye Lash curler- Poetry
Nail Polish- Photography

Mascara- Digital Art
Jewelry- Artisan Crafts
Powder- Street Art
Highlights- Fan Art/ Fan Fiction
Lip Gloss- Mixed Media/Photomanipulation

I wish fashion would be more artistic. At end, I'm telling the art community to wait for me so I can find them and then I won't feel out of place ever again!

Enjoy!

A clever idea and well-executed: the combination of make-up methods/techniques with artistic ones makes for interesting parallels, and suggests different forms of beauty.

The format and rhyme scheme simple but effective - creating a classic poem structure - and spelling and grammar are fine.

Just the same way that not all these forms of make-up look good on the same person, not all forms of art will be a good fit for a certain person, either in exhibiting it or receiving it.  And...there is such a thing as going overboard.  Balance is key.

So, before I start with the analysis, you want "to" in the last stanza. If you ever confuse which to use, try replacing "too" with "as well" and see if it works. If it doesn't, use "to."

It's strikes me as odd to compare art to makeup. I've always thought of makeup as a cover for one's true face. My initial reaction is to say that art is a reflection of one's true self, but given even the slightest bit of thought, that's not true. People use art to cover themselves up all the time. I've seen these people, their art projects innocence when they're dirty as hell. Some art projects sensitivity and covers up their deep seeded conceit. Then I wonder if I'm really correct in my assessment of these people. Then again, why create art that you don't feel reflects your personality? This begs the question, "if others can't tell, your art can't tell, and even you can't tell for sure, what IS your true self?"

Maybe the only way to tell who we are is through the people with whom we surround ourselves. Maybe my art doesn't speak to my true self, but the fact that I surround myself with artists of a similar taste says something about me. Maybe my art is more of an identifying mark than anything else, a cosmetic. Honestly, I have no way to tell. Anyway, keep up the good work!

Thank you so much for the critique! :D :)

I see make-up as art actually and I think it can say a lot of things about a person! :meow:

I think art is always a subconscious representation of yourself! :meow: Whether you mean too or not, I think you let a little bit of yourself show through your art! Even those people are dirty, perhaps they have some innocent quality in themselves! :)

I think everyone's way of handling art is unique, different, and diverse! :dummy: So there's really no way to assess it! :)

Thank you so much!

I usually just ignore poetry on dA but yours catched my eye, and heart in the end! Really really like it! uvu
But I have no idea what does last verse have to do with the others? For me it feels like it's not from this poem to be honest, can you explain? :0

Awww Thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it! :meow:

Yes, the last verse can be a bit confusing! I'll be happy to explain:

The actual point of this poem is that artists wear different make up than regular people, so the last bit of the poem is me telling the art community to wait for me so I can find them and then I'd be with same people who wear the same make up as me!

I hope that cleared it up for you! :)

Thank you so much!

OHHHHHHH HHH

but WOAAHH then this makes sense *"a whole new world" playing in the distance*
really, great poem, you have talent for those! love it love it love it!

Thought provoking. I like to hide behind a camera instead of words or even behind makeup even though my face may be in the limelight. So many ways to hide in plain sight.

Well you are online so many people can "see" your work. But which side of you are they going to see. Are they going to see a serious artist or someone who comes online and wants to play around. Then I thought of Robin Williams who so recently took his life. He brought laughter to so many and beneath his smile their hid pain. That's kinda along the line of things I thought of hiding where everyone can see you. Or even hiding your real face from the world by putting on makeup.

Ahhh Thank you so much for elaborating! :) I can definitely see and relate too what you mean online and offline! Although, I feel online I hide behind concealing than actually showing and offline quite the opposite! :) Thank you so much for sharing your lovely thoughts and Thank you for this comment! :)

It would be, and that's why I think it's fabulous that everyone is different! :) But people who do think differently shouldn't be considered outcasts or rejects of society! :c (Unless they want to harm other's!)

I had a feeling this had to do with art instead of modelling. Nice way to express it, except that last verse lost the touch of the poem.
